Company Profile
Company Overview
NCEP’s neurological rehabilitation program was established for the benefit of individuals not previously served in Nevada. Candidates have a diagnosis specific to traumatic or acquired brain injury. They are also medically stable and able to tolerate several hours of therapeutic intervention per day. The program is for all residents of Nevada. Through special legislative allocations and federal grants administered by the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, NCEP is able to provide full residential and/or day treatment services to brain injury survivors with third party pay or support (at highly competitive rates) to those with Nevada Medicaid or to those who have more limited financial resources.
The Nevada Community Enrichment Program (NCEP) has a three-year accreditation from the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Located in Las Vegas, the program offers intensive and comprehensive day treatment, transitional living and home and community-based services to individuals with a brain injury, stroke, aneurysm and related neurological problems. Our goal: to help people make continued progress toward greater independence while maximizing their functional potential.
The day treatment program is designed for those who are able to live in their own homes, but who need access to an intensive day therapy program. From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, NCEP offers a full range of therapeutic services including occupational, physical and speech therapy, behavioral programming, neuropsychological counseling, life skills training, aquatic exercise therapy, substance abuse services and a vocational work re-entry component. Because the programs are tailored to the needs of the individual, the length of each program varies.
NCEP addresses the whole person’s physical, emotional and spiritual needs. The consumer works with various members of an interdisciplinary team (consisting of a physician, rehabilitation nurse, therapists, behavior specialist, case manager and neuropsychologist). Together, they choose a clear, functional, and realistic set of personal goals. As the individual works to achieve his or her goals, objectives are reviewed and measured so that progress and subsequent treatment decisions are based on behavioral and functional information as well as clinical opinion. Family members, who assist with the development and implementation of the entire rehabilitation plan – are an integral part of this treatment. Families, team members, funders, and the consumer meet regularly to discuss progress. NCEP also offers necessary support services and training to family members.
The residential program utilizes day treatment services and continues training, therapy and supervision for individuals who require 24-hour daily rehabilitation. Services are provided in apartments and nearby homes. These residential environments focus on functional activities of daily living, community orientation, mobility, social and behavioral skills, recreation and leisure and employment seeking. Environments are designed to meet the specific needs of each individual.
Using traditional as well as complimentary/alternative approaches and immersion in a healing, therapeutic, social environment, NCEP’s team has been especially successful in treating and reversing the devastating effects of mild brain injury.
The long term residential rehabilitation program at Casa Norte was added to NCEP's CARF accreditation in 2002. The rehabilitation program offers a community-based quality of life option for adults who display more challenging behaviors.
NCEP enhances, enriches, and supplements existing community services – and also reduces cost by avoiding duplication of those services. Through support, training and community network resources, NCEP helps individuals develop greater self-reliance. Every participant is an active consumer of services rather than a passive recipient of treatment.
