Janki Patel, MOT, OTR/L
Co-Founder & Occupational Therapist
Hello, I’m Janki Patel! My roots lie in the heart of New Jersey, where I was born and raised in a close-knit, extended family. From an early age, my passion for caring for others was evident, and it became clear to me that I wanted to choose a career path where I could truly make a difference. That’s why I chose to become an occupational therapist.
I was fortunate to be accepted into 5-year master’s program, where I had the privilege of sharing a classroom with my future business partner, Brittany Smith. Over the course of our college years, Brittany and I not only became close friends but also discovered our shared passion for working with children, especially within the autism community.
This journey led us through academia and into the professional world, and our shared dedication to making a positive impact on children’s lives only grew stronger. After years of hard work and valuable experience in the field, Brittany and I made the life-changing decision to start our own company, Jump Ahead Pediatrics. This venture was the realization of a dream to create a difference in the lives of children and their families.
Today, Jump Ahead Pediatrics stands as a testament to our shared vision. We’ve established multiple sensory clinics, secured government school contracts, and built a dedicated team of therapists, para-professionals, RBTs social workers and more. Our mission is clear: to provide an environment where therapists feel valued and heard, while also offering children the support they need to achieve their full potential at home and in school.
Beyond my professional life, I call the vibrant city of New York home, where I live with my loving and supportive husband, who happens to be Jump Ahead’s number one fan! Together, we share a passion for travel and exploration, all while giving back to the world that has given us so much. With Jump Ahead Pediatrics, Brittany and I are working tirelessly to shape a brighter future for children, families, and the entire healthcare professional community.
Brittany Smith MOT, OTR/L, CKT
Co-Founder & Occupational Therapist
Throughout my entire life, my passion has revolved around working with children. It was crystal clear to me that my calling lay in a medical field dedicated to assisting children. The moment I chose to pursue a career in occupational therapy, I knew it was the perfect fit for me.
During my college years, fate introduced me to Janki, and our connection was instantaneous. We not only shared the same aspirations but also possessed a shared, unwavering determination. Even after graduating, we remained close friends and eventually found ourselves working side by side.
As my family grew, I found myself at a crossroad, prompting me to take a leap of faith with Janki and launch Jump Ahead! Drawing from the positive and negative aspects we’d encountered in our previous occupational therapy positions, we laid the groundwork for this venture. Our diligent efforts were complemented by invaluable assistance from fellow therapists and professionals we have encountered along the way.
While work has always been a significant commitment, my three beautiful children take precedence as they are the greatest gifts in my life. My supportive husband has witnessed the finest and the most challenging moments through this journey. My family serves as my unwavering support system in every aspect of Jump Ahead’s voyage.
Fast forward seven grueling, yet incredibly rewarding years, and I am elated to report that Jump Ahead has exceeded our wildest expectations. I take immense pride in Janki and myself for not only providing support to our employees but also for the invaluable work we do in aiding children. I truly believe in giving back and living by our dual mission to brighten the futures of children and enrich the lives of our team members. I believe the energy we put into the world often finds its way back to us. Namaste!
