La Clinica
Company Overview
Our mission is to provide quality medical, dental, and social services to the diverse populations within our communities, especially to those who face barriers to health care.
Company History
Since our inception in 1988 we have strived to improve the quality of life for the diverse communities we serve by providing culturally appropriate, accessible, and affordable quality health care.
La Clinica del Valle Family Health Care Center (now known as La Clinica) was founded to serve the needs of the migrant and seasonal farm worker community in Jackson County, Oregon. In response to increasing need for affordable primary and preventive health care, we have expanded to serve the entire community, with a particular focus on those whose poverty impedes their ability to access care. Our core purpose is to empower people to live healthy lives through education, preventive health, and lifestyle choices.
Today, La Clinica offers services through six neighborhood health centers, nine school-based clinics and a mobile health center. Our social services and outreach programs provide a safety net for our most remote and vulnerable community members.
The need for affordable care is increasing at a tremendous rate. This growth is attributed to the changes in our state's Medicaid program; declining capacity to serve our growing Medicare community; and a steady decline in enrollment in employer-sponsored health insurance.
Nearly 60,000 people in Jackson County fall within our target population for medical care, and almost 90,000 need help with dental care. La Clinica met just over a quarter of the need for medical care in the community in 2009 and only 5 percent of the dental need.
La Clinica del Valle Family Health Care Center (dba La Clinica) is a Health Center Program grantee under 42 I.S.C. 254b and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n).
