Company Overview
The Institute, founded in 1977, is an autonomous graduate educational institution accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The Institute offers innovative interdisciplinary graduate programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Nursing, and Physical Therapy. The Institute is an academic affiliate of the Massachusetts General Hospital and a member of the Partners HealthCare System. Close ties to clinical and academic institutions in the Boston area contribute to a rich and diverse environment for research and scholarship, excellence in clinical practice, and exciting teaching opportunities. The Institute is located in a newly renovated building in the historic Charlestown Navy Yard, which also houses a major research presence of the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Company History
The Department of Physical Therapy offers both professional and post-professional programs. The professional program, accredited by CAPTE, leads to a DPT degree, and is well respected for its visionary curriculum. The post-professional curriculum consists of several on-site and distance education options for the experienced physical therapist including a Master of Science degree for International Students, Certificate of Advanced Study, Clinical Residency in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and Manual Therapy and a transitional DPT program. A developing interdisciplinary PhD program and international activities are new areas of growth. The programs’ highly respected faculty are recognized for their expertise as educators, researchers, and master clinicians and for their involvement in professional activities.
