North Georgia Physical Therapy Associates is a physical therapist owned private practice with state-of-the-art facilities in Ellijay and Blue Ridge, GA and Copperhill, TN.
Our practice was establish in 1988 and it continues to thrive because of our commitment to outstanding patient care. Among our staff of highly trained and experienced PTs, we have McKenzie Mechanical Diagnostic Therapists, Certified Vestibular Therapists and Spinal Manipulation Specialists. Our patient load primarily consists of pre and post surgical orthopedic patients and neurological disorders.
We maintain a strong presence in our communities by our involvement in civic organizations and high school sports coverage.
Company History
Mike Darnell, PT received his BS in Zoology from the University of Georgia in 1975 and his BS in Physical Therapy from Georgia State University in 1977. His early work experience included Emory University Hospital before starting a private practice in Atlanta that was devoted primarily to the treatment of the spine and patients with TMJ pain / dysfunction. He started North Georgia Physical Therapy Associates (NGPTA) in 1988 and has served the North Georgia area since 1983. NGPTA had locations in Marietta, Acworth, Canton, Jasper and Ellijay. In 1996, Healthsouth bought the Marietta, Acworth, Canton and Jasper clinics leaving just the Ellijay clinic. In 1999 he opened the Blue Ridge clinic followed by the Copperhill clinic in 2000. His specialties include orthopedic and sports rehabilitation, dry needling, spinal rehabilitation including high velocity low amplitude thrust manipulation and the assessment and treatment of peripheral neuropathic conditions.
