Hands-On Treatment & Patient-centered Care
All PTSMC clinicians provide hands-on care to their patients, with a focus on individualized care. This is no “cookie-cutter” approach to PT. Meeting each patient’s needs to ensure the best possible outcomes is our top priority. Throughout the plan of care, PTSMC clinicians are encouraged to explore a diverse range of options for treatment while receiving support and mentorship from experienced colleagues.
Love Where You Work
We believe that creating a fun, welcoming environment with team members passionate about helping others is the most important step in providing excellent care; that people who love where they work can’t help but pass that energy on. This is why PTSMC has been named a Top Workplace in Connecticut for 12 straight years, and a Top Workplace USA for 3!.
Small-clinic Feel in a Growing Organization
While PTSMC has clinics across the state, each clinic delivers services autonomously, creating an environment in which clinicians operate at the local level, yet are supported by a large, stable and growing organization.
Professional Growth and Development Opportunities
PTSMC offers regular in-house education programs and financial support for employees seeking external educational opportunities. Many staff members have received advanced degrees and certifications with the support of PTSMC, including Board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialists and Trigger Point Dry Needling certifications.
We value the advancement and specialization of your skills because we understand that staying current in the field and passionate about your work is the best way to provide excellent care. In 2014, PTSMC created a formal mentorship program for all new clinical hires, and in 2019 we became one of a handful of organizations in New England offering a fully accredited Orthopedic Residency Program.
Clinic Ownership is Within Reach
For physical therapists with the desire to own their own practice, PTSMC offers the opportunity to attain clinic ownership as a Partner. PTSMC is privately-owned by physical therapists, and through this unique partnership model, clinics operate independently while being supported by a team of administrative and business colleagues.
Built for Success on a Solid Foundation
Physical therapist Alan Balavender acquired Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine Centers in 2000 – then a single clinic in Waterbury, Connecticut. As president and owner, he has managed PTSMC’s steady growth and continued success, bringing the independent organization to its current size. PTSMC’s strategic plan for continued growth and expansion creates opportunities in an environment that is exciting and rewarding.
