The Seneca Healthcare District Hospital is a California Critical Access Hospital that hosts a 10-bed acute floor, 2-bed emergency room, outpatient surgery, laboratory, imaging department, wound care services, and a 16-bed distinct part Skilled Nursing Facility.

Our emergency department offers 24-hour emergency services and has a licensed physician on duty when you need them most. Gentle, excellent healthcare will be provided to you, your family, friends and loved ones should a visit to our emergency room become necessary no matter what time of day or night.

Lake Almanor Clinic, a Rural Health Clinic, hosts 4 private physician offices, a walk-in-clinic, a specialty clinic and Telehealth services.

We are currently in construction for a new hospital. The facility will add much-needed space, design and resources— Expanded resident capacity in our long-term care unit; upgraded and modern patient rooms; additional surgical suites and post-surgical care unit; enlarged and additional emergency treatment rooms; spaces for equipment; and room to make the most of new and evolving technologies. The new, updated facility is expected to be completed in early 2027.

Company History

Seneca Healthcare District was formed in 1947 as an independent special district to meet the needs of our rural community. The hospital opened the doors to patients in 1954. The Skilled Nursing Facility admitted the first patient in 1976. The hospital based rural health clinic was built in 1996. Seneca received Critical Access Hospital designation in 2007 and is a non-profit governmental entity supported by tax dollars.
