Established in 1819, the University of Cincinnati is a Carnegie Research-Extensive state institution ranked among the top 200 World Universities, with 42,500 students, 12,000 faculty and staff, 450 undergraduate and 250 graduate degree programs. The University is organized as eleven colleges with an $800 million annual budget and sponsored programs exceeding $400 million. The 200-acre main campus is located just north of downtown Cincinnati, one of the nation's most livable cities, and has recently been named by Forbes as one of the 10 most beautiful campuses in the United States. Two branch campuses are located north and east of the city. The UC Health System is a premier teaching, research and treatment facility.
