Program Director, Associate/Professor of Physical Therapy

Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) invites applications for a full-time Program Director for its Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program in Knoxville, Tennessee. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced physical therapy educator and academic leader to guide a growing program committed to educational excellence, innovation, collaboration, and student success.

The Program Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for the DPT Program, including oversight of curriculum development and assessment, faculty development, fiscal management, program outcomes, continuous improvement, and CAPTE accreditation compliance. The successful candidate will join LMU at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.

LMU’s DPT Program offers a 36-month curriculum that includes 34 weeks of clinical education and is supported by more than 150 clinical partnerships. The program shares modern, interprofessional learning spaces with LMU’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program, creating opportunities for collaboration, contemporary teaching, research, service learning, and interprofessional education.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for all DPT Program activities
• Maintain program compliance with CAPTE accreditation standards
• Lead curriculum development, evaluation, benchmarking, and data-informed improvement
• Oversee program assessment, strategic planning, budgeting, and reporting
• Support, supervise, and evaluate core faculty
• Promote faculty development, scholarship, service, and professional engagement
• Collaborate with university and department leadership on enrollment, recruitment, accreditation, and program growth
• Contribute to teaching, scholarship, and service in accordance with university and CAPTE expectations
• Foster a positive, collaborative environment for faculty, staff, and students

Required Qualifications

• Earned degree in physical therapy from an appropriately accredited institution
• Active, unencumbered physical therapist license in a United States jurisdiction and eligibility for Tennessee licensure
• Earned academic doctoral degree, such as a PhD, EdD, or DSc
• At least six years of full-time higher education experience
• At least three years of full-time experience as a core faculty member in a CAPTE-accredited entry-level physical therapist education program
• Qualifications and experience appropriate for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor
• Successful teaching experience in higher education

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a DPT Program Director
• Demonstrated experience with CAPTE accreditation and outcomes assessment
• At least five years of full-time leadership experience in higher education administration
• Professional involvement at the state, national, or international level
